The Cheat Code to Surpass Your Wildest Goals and Dreams
Most agents set goals based on what seems realistic. The ones who break through set goals based on who they are willing to become.
Everyone wants a cheat code. A shortcut. A hack that gets them from where they are to where they want to be without all the pain, the work, and the uncertainty. I get it. I have wanted that too.
But here is what I have learned after 22 years in real estate, 4,300 homes sold, and 17,000 one-on-one coaching calls: the cheat code exists. It is just not what you think it is.
The Myth of Realistic Goals
Most agents set goals based on what they think is achievable. "I did 15 million last year, so this year I will aim for 20." That is not a goal. That is an incremental forecast. And incremental thinking produces incremental results.
The agents who blow past their wildest expectations are the ones who stop asking "What is realistic?" and start asking "Who do I need to become?" Because here is the truth: your goals are not limited by the market, your lead flow, or your team. They are limited by the size of your thinking.
The Real Cheat Code: Identity-Based Goals
The cheat code is this: stop setting goals based on outcomes and start setting goals based on identity. Instead of "I want to sell 50 homes this year," ask "What kind of person sells 50 homes a year?" Then become that person.
That person thinks differently. They make decisions differently. They spend their time differently. They have different standards for themselves and for the people around them. When you shift your identity, your actions follow. When your actions follow, the results become inevitable.
Why Most Goals Fail
I see three patterns that kill goals in real estate:
1. Goals without a system.
A goal without a system is just a wish. You need a daily operating rhythm that moves you toward the goal regardless of how you feel on any given day. Systems beat motivation every single time.
2. Goals without accountability.
This is the one that trips up even experienced agents. You set a goal in January. By March, you have drifted. By June, you have forgotten what you were aiming for. Without someone holding you accountable, your goals will always bow to the tyranny of the urgent.
3. Goals that conflict with your life.
This is the sneakiest one. You set a business goal that requires 80-hour weeks, but your real goal is to be present for your family. When the business goal and the life goal collide, something gives. Usually both suffer. The cheat code is designing goals that align all three happiness buckets: health, wealth, and relationships.
Commitment to Confidence
Here is the phrase I come back to over and over again: commitment to confidence. We are always a work in progress. You do not wait until you feel confident to commit. You commit, and the confidence follows. Every single time.
The agents who surpass their wildest goals are not the ones who had it all figured out from day one. They are the ones who committed to a vision bigger than their current reality and then did the work to close the gap. One strategic question at a time. One disciplined action at a time.
Your Next Step
I want you to write down your goal for this year. The real one. Not the one you tell people at networking events. The one that scares you a little. The one that makes you think, "I have no idea how I am going to do that."
Good. That is exactly where you should be.
Now ask yourself: "Who do I need to become to achieve this?" Write that down too. Because that person is the cheat code. That person is already inside you, waiting for you to stop playing small.
Learn like you are going to live forever. And never apologize for thinking bigger.
